What a great, exhausting, dirty, fun weekend! Friday night we ventured out to Buttle Lake with the Hendricks' family to try our hands at camping with a toddler. We planned well, were basicaly prepared, but learned a lot about camping with Nicholas. He LOVED it. He loved the trees, the fire, the sand, the bugs, and the dirt! I really wish he was walking confidently on his own, cause who knows what he picked up crawling through the dirt all weekend. Yan and Trevor went fishing, but never caught anything, so good thing we didn't count on fish for supper! Trevor even taught Yan to fly fish, so now of course he needs to go and get a fly fishing rod. Cale, Carey, Trevor & Jake

We learned we need a bigger tent, more baby wipes for dirty hands, and not to bother bathing your child unless it's just for the fun of it.

Way to go for taking on this adventure with a toddler! Love the pic of the 3 of you in front of the tent. By the time Nic is 2 he will be a seasoned camper. Can't believe you actually bathed him there! Too bad you couldn't have just dunked him in the lake! He sure is a little explorer.
Sounds like you had a fun, dirty weekend!! You guys are brave. How did you get that first picture to go black and white and only Nic in colour?? Beautiful picture as they all were.
Doesn't look like it was the most relaxing time :) but I see lots of fun was had by everyone!!! The only camping we've done is with grandparent's or aunties and their trailers!! Don't know if I'd ever brave tenting it with my toddler! Way too go - I give you guys credit. By the end of the summer you'll know all the tricks of the trade when you camp then you'll just have to share them with us!
You are very brave to go camping with a crawling toddler!!! Looks like Nicholas had a marvelous time tasting everything her explored!!! You will be seasoned campers by the end of the summer. You will enjoy camping for years to come! Great pictures!
