Hi Everyone! Yan and I are back from our vacation with a story to tell. It's a long one, but the condensed version for those who haven't heard it yet is a follows. We set off on Mar 21 for Seattle to catch our flight to Saipan to visit Ken and Crystal Pierson as planned. We ended up sitting at the CDN-US border for 6 hour
s and completely missed our flight. We then spent the next 1.5 days in Seattle, at SEA-TAC, trying to get on another flight. Bottom line: Spring Break meant no flights available no matter what kind of $$$ we had. So after a lot of tears and time spent on the cell phone and the internet, we admitted defeat and decided to come back to Vancouver. But not before booking a trip for Mar 24 to Varadero, Cuba! Thanks so much to Scott for finding the last minute "deal" for us. It seems that since American college
kids can't go to Cuba, there were still some space on flights there. It's only money right? So we spent the next day in Vancouver at the Science Center, and eating sushi at Robson Sushi (all you can eat for $10 - best in town!) Then we hoped on our plane to our new destination and spent the next 7 days relaxing in the sun of Cuba. We regret not being able to go to Saipan,
but we have a few years left before the Pierson's leave!

We had a really nice time, but it's so good to be home with our little man once more. We missed him sooooo much! My mom took such great care of him though - we got back to a clean house, food in the fridge, and a very content, happy little boy. We just can't squish him enough now that we are home! THANKS MOM.Here are some pics of our trip.

Yan and his Cuban cigar...gross!
First day there...if was kinda cool that day, but not for long!

Old cars that are taxis actually driving around the Cuban streets.

Our dive site at the Bay of Pigs. We saw a wreck of a boat that sank in the conflicts in 1961.
Swimming in a cave
Snorkeling
Nearing the end of our trip!
The catamaran our resort offered us free rides on...fun!
Nic saying good bye to his new buddy...his Grandma Sankey!

Okay, so obviously my first question is...why at the border for SIX hours??? We're glad that everything turned out the best it could and that you're now home with your son, but what a nightmare. I would have been in tears, too. Your mom had so much fun with Nic. It was fun getting onto her blog and reading about their adventures and looking at all of the pictures she took. I can tell it's hard for her to live as far away as she does. Was Yan really smoking that thing? Yuck if he was ; ) ! Welcome home!
At least you still were able to get away and have some R&R and some diving!!! Looks like you guys had a wonderful time and a lot of fun in the sun!
glad you had a somewhat salvaged trip so the week wasn't complete loss.
Wow! Your vacation pics look beautiful! Nice beaches. Glad you were still able to dive! Yes, we'll be out here for a few years longer, so you still have time to visit! Nic looks so happy with you Mom. We can see the resemblance too! xo
Glad to get your vacataion report! Looks like you had a great time and you also enjoyed diving! You'll still get to Saipan!!! Nicolas is growing up! He is just such a happy boy! Looks like Elaine and Nicolas both had a ball!!! She an I agree that being a "Grammy" is just the BEST!!!!
